Yggdrasil is a mythical tree in Norse mythology that is considered to be the center of the world. It is also known as the World Tree or the Tree of Life. According to legend, Yggdrasil has three roots that extend into three different realms: Asgard (home of the gods), Midgard (home of humans), and Niflheim (home of the dead). The tree is said to be held up by a giant serpent and an eagle, and it is also inhabited by various creatures, including a squirrel that runs up and down the trunk carrying messages between the eagle and the serpent. Yggdrasil is often seen as a symbol of the interconnectedness of all things in the universe.
